A Meraki is a wireless Internet repeater/gateway. It can be connected directly to the Internet (called a gateway), or placed within range of other Merakis (called a repeater). Meraki devices form a wireless mesh network with other nearby repeaters or gateways, as long as at least one is connected to the Internet.
The ideal mounting location for a Meraki is typically in your front window, or any window where you can see the most houses, apartments or buildings. Double sided foam tape is recommended for easy mounting.
If you have a broadband Internet connection (such as DSL or cable) you can share it, giving back to your community and helping to bring Internet access to those that aren’t able to afford it. Limits are placed on wireless clients, ensuring your Internet access isn’t slowed down.
If you can see the “dfwfreenet” wireless network signal with your computer, you can help by placing a small wireless repeater in your window. This will repeat the network signal, enlarge the network coverage area and improve your wireless connection to DFWFreeNet.
(retype the address in your mail client) with the serial number from the back of the unit and the address where the access point will be physically located. This will allow us to add the access point to the DFWFreeNet network and accurately place it on the network map.
